ACF crisis deepens, as faction warns banks against tampering with ₦3.88bn funds

ACF crisis deepens

A fresh twist has emerged in the leadership crisis rocking the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), as one faction has warned banks and other financial institutions against any unauthorized dealings with the organisation’s estimated ₦3.88 billion funds.

In a statement issued by the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Prof. Tukur Mohammad-Baba, the group alleged that the funds are currently held at an interest rate of eight per cent despite offers from other financial institutions of up to 20 percent.

The faction cautioned that any bank or individual found to have interfered with the Forum’s assets without proper authorization would be held accountable through legal means.

The group reaffirmed that the current National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Working Committee (NWC) remain the constitutionally recognised leadership of the ACF. It also maintained that former Chairman, Bashir Ɗalhatu, remains under suspension pending the outcome of investigations into allegations of misconduct.

However, the rival faction dismissed the claims. Speaking through Malam Burka Zarma, the group argued that the ACF Constitution permits any Northerner who registers with the Forum to become a member and challenged the legitimacy of the allegations levelled against its leadership.

The latest exchange underscores the deepening internal dispute within the ACF, with both factions laying claim to the Forum’s leadership and authority over its affairs, including the management of its financial resources.
